Tutankhamun Immersive Exhibition: Bringing ancient Egypt to life

Background

HIVE is a fast-rising disruptor in the media server space, known for delivering powerful content playback for immersive experiences.

Since 2024, Arrow & Zest has managed HIVE’s marketing – developing strategy, content and a steady stream of high-impact case studies.

The Tutankhamun: Immersive Exhibition, held at London’s ExCeL, was one of HIVE’s most ambitious projects to date – an eight-metre-high, 360-degree projection environment powered by 44 projectors. The project presented the perfect opportunity to create some real buzz around the brand.

Challenge

While the project had been on the radar for several months, permission to film came through at the very last minute – just 24 hours before final setup. That left a razor-thin window to plan, brief and capture footage onsite, working around a packed schedule of calibration, technical rehearsals and commissioning.

Solution

We created an integrated campaign covering content creation and promotion.

Video

With just a day’s notice, we produced a concise video brief and worked alongside the talented Antonio Pagano, HIVE’s go-to photographer, to capture behind-the-scenes footage of the build and setup – as well as interviews with key stakeholders.

Filming took place during setup and commissioning, meaning we had to work around busy project teams and tight timeframes. As a result, we ran out of time for the planned on-camera interviews, so we adapted by recording a voiceover with HIVE’s Chief Pollinator, Nigel Sadler, to bring the narrative together in post-production.

Editorial & PR

Following the video shoot, we interviewed HIVE and the client, Painting with Light (PWL), to capture both creative and technical perspectives. This formed the basis of a detailed editorial story published on the HIVE website.

We followed this with a coordinated press release campaign distributed to leading AV and live event publications, generating widespread coverage – including a cover story in LIVE magazine.

A selection of media coverage:

Email & Social Media

The case study and video were also shared via targeted email campaigns to HIVE’s client database and through its UK distribution partner, driving awareness and engagement across the channel.

To maximise reach, we rolled out a coordinated campaign across HIVE’s social channels, combining video snippets, behind-the-scenes images and technical highlights to drive strong engagement.

Results

The case study became HIVE’s most successful campaigns to date – delivering strong media exposure, high engagement and a lasting impact.

Delivered from filming to publication in just six weeks, the story became a key sales and PR asset, shared globally with HIVE’s regional channel partners and setting a template for future case studies.

The exhibition itself went on to set a new benchmark for touring immersive shows, moving from London to Glasgow in late 2025.
